We host intimate music, art, movement and conversation evenings at Kalpana, a 1970s family bungalow in New Alipore. Every event is shaped by our own taste and curiosity. There is no formula. There is just care — for the music we choose, the people we gather, and the feeling we leave you with.

One of India's oldest martial art forms — arriving at Kalpana. Kalaripayattu is not just combat. It is a discipline of the body, breath, and mind, passed down for centuries in Kerala and considered the mother of all martial arts. Sri Lakshmanan Gurukkal brings that lineage here — a master practitioner who rarely conducts workshops outside his own institution. This is also a fundraising initiative for GVS Ayurveda Gurukulam, supporting the preservation of traditional Ayurvedic education.

For three generations, artistry has been practiced and refined within these walls. The Courtyard Project carries that legacy forward as Kolkata's most intimate live music and performance platform — a stage where emerging musicians, vocalists and artists can experiment freely, present their work to a genuinely engaged audience, and cultivate the kind of deep human connection that only comes from performing in a space built for it.
Every TCP music evening is curated for intimacy, not scale. The audience is close, the acoustics are warm, and the artists have room to be exactly who they are.
